Following on from our preview of ‘High & Sexy EP’, we were hyped to hear Maceo Plex was re-releasing one of his favorite tracks with some new remixes on his own label, ELLUM Audio.
Bazar – Hard to Find was originally released on French label Basic Recordings back in 2004 and by including remixes by Danny Daze and Maceo Plex this EP has been well and truly brought into 2011. “People are constantly asking me what it is, so it only seemed fitting to re-release this with some updated remixes”
The EP begins with Maceo Plex’s ‘Funk Drop Remix’ which does exactly what it says on the tin. The track has the same French funk as the original, but with an added melt-down of a drop, this track could easily be mistaken as a Maceo Plex classic. Track 2 is the original mix, with a driving rhythm and beyond-groovy bass line, the track is still entirely relevant and proves it’s timelessness in today’s fast-moving house scene. Last up on the release is Danny Daze’s ‘Love Dub’ mix. Daze adds his signature cool vibe to the track, dubbing a new vocal which not only pays great respect to the original, but creates a new sound which, for Lick, is the best on the release on the EP. The track’s deep, low bass brings back memories of when we first heard ‘Your Everything’ by Daze himself, which obviously is a brilliant thing to be reminded of.
